Globalization is the tendency of businesses, technologies, or philosophies to spread throughout the world or the process of making it all happen. The global economy is known as a globularity every now and then. The advantages and disadvantages of globalization have been heavily examined and all of them vary. People who favor it say that it helps developing nations catch up to industrialized nations very quickly through increased employment and technological advances. On the opposite side people say that It makes nations sovereignty weak and allows the rich to ship domestic jobs overseas where labor is much cheaper. The quick spreading of McDonalds restaurants all over the world is a perfect example of globalization. The fact that they adapt their to suit local taste is an example of globalization. Mcdonalds has turned into the symbol of American social force and the embodiment of the Americanization of whatever is left of the planet. The message of globalized Mcdonalds is "If you con sume like us, you are set to be like us." When actually by consuming like Americans individuals far and wide are just being enlivened to look increasingly like American's as to corpulence. However yet, Mcdonald's, for example numerous American organizations, have persuaded themselves that notwithstanding its blemishes, American society is unrivaled and in this manner its impact is just gainful to other, "lesser" Glocalization is the concept that in a global market a product or service is more likely to succeed when it is done because of the locality or culture in which it is sold. The term is a combination of globalization and localization. Fiction Vs. Reality: A comparison of themes in “Tartuffe” and “Candide” Essay

When reading a work of fiction, one has to be aware of different writing styles that will clue you into the information that the author wants one to pick up on. In the works, Moliere’s â€Å"Tartuffe† and Voltaire’s â€Å"Candide† the themes of appearance vs. reality can be found. I will be discussing this theme which is both obvious and subtle depending on the author. I will be discussing the theme of appearance vs. reality. In â€Å"Tartuffe†, the character â€Å"Tartuffe† is touted as a holy zealous man that is supposed to be pious. Tartuffe is actually a master con-artist who gains entree into the household of Orgon by portraying himself as a holy man. Throughout the play Tartuffe first gains permission to marry Orgon’s daughter Marianne, then he proceeds to try and seduce her mother and Orgon’s wife Elmire. This is one of the most obvious scenes in which one can see Tartuffe’s facade being challenged. Elmire: ‘Your declaration is most gallant, Sir, But don’t you think it’s out of character? You’d have done better to restrain your passion and think before you spoke in such a fashion. It ill becomes a pious man like you†¦ ‘ Tartuffe: ‘I may be pious, but I am human too: With your celestial charms before his eyes, a man has not the power to be wise. I know such words sound strangely coming from me, but I’m no angel, nor was meant to be’ (Moliere Act III Sc IV). Tartuffe is trying to gain the affection of Elmire despite the fact that he is betrothed to Marianne. He makes another pass at Elmire again in Act Four. In this scene, Tartuffe is trying to convince Elmire that they can have an affair. Tartuffe uses language and logic that betray that he is not in fact pious at all. Elmire: But how can I consent with your offense to heaven, toward which you feel such reverence? Tartuffe: If heaven is all that holds you back, don’t worry. I can remove that hindrance in a hurry. Nothing of that sort need obstruct our path†¦ Tartuffe: If you’re still troubled, think of things this way: No one shall know our joys, save us alone, and there’s no evil till the act is known; its scandal, Madam, which makes it an offence and it’s no sin to sin in confidence (Moliere Act IV Sc VII). This scene truly un-masks Tartuffe as the false prude he is. In Voltaire’s novel, â€Å"Candide†, there are many examples of appearance vs. reality. The novel begins by describing different philosophical arguments. Candide’s philosophical stance is one that states that everything is the best of all possible worlds. It can be demonstrated, that things could not be other than they are; for everything has been made to serve a purpose, and so nothing is susceptible to improvement (Voltaire 2). This ideology is one that can be inherently deceiving. When Candide and his companions arrive in Lisbon, there is a huge earthquake that kills many people and creates a great deal of damage. Candide and Pangloss attempt to help the people injured during the earthquake, during which Pangloss attempt to tell someone that the earthquake was for the best, but he ends up being taken by the inquisition: ‘For, all this is for the best; for, if there is a volcano at Lisbon, it cannot be anywhere else; for it is impossible that things should not be where they are; for all is well. ‘ A little, dark man, a familiar of the Inquisition, who sat beside him, politely took up the conversation, and said ‘ Apparently, you do not believe in original sin; for, if everything is for the best, there was neither fall nor punishment. ‘ †¦ ‘Your Excellency will pardon me,’ said Pangloss; ‘free-will can exist with absolute necessity; for it was necessary that we should be free; for in short, limited will†¦ ‘ (Voltaire 120). After this scene, Pangloss is to be hanged. This devastates Candide who travels on without him. Much later in the novel, Pangloss re-appears on a slave ship, where Candide is able to purchase his freedom. Candide believed Pangloss to be dead, but he was really alive, suffering in the slave galley the whole time. This type of situation happens many other times in Candide. When Candide and Cacambo decide to fight on the side of the Paraguayan Jesuits, Candide thinks he killed the brother of Cunegonde when they encountered each other. It turns out that Candide just wounded the Baron who was also on the slave ship with Pangloss. The use of reality vs. a fake reality makes a story more interesting and gives it more dimensions. These realities are also subjective realities. In Tartuffe’s case, Dorine and Damis both saw through the monk’s false piety and tried to un-mask him. Ocean acidification is a major problem facing the world currently. The oceans are become more acidic. This is because oceans soak up one-third of the atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration. Since the beginning of industrialization, there has been an increase in the use of fossil fuels and subsequently an increase of atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration. When oceans take in carbon dioxide, it makes the water more acidic thus negatively affecting marine life. We need to control the ocean acidification from becoming worse and eventually effecting humans. â€Å"Threatening Ocean Life from The Inside Out† by M. Hardt C. Safina is about the impacts of ocean acidification on marine life as subsequently human life as well. Ocean acidification refers to a reduction in the pH of the ocean over an extended period time, caused primarily by uptake of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere. The water is becoming more acidic and negatively effecting marine life. The acidity affects coral and animals like clams and muscles having trouble building their skeletons and shells. It is also impacting the sperm count and the reproductive ability of male animals in the ocean. The oceans’ pH today is 8.1, which is mildly basic, but the conditions we are in right now shows a declining trend. The atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration is almost 390 parts per million (ppm), but it would be even higher if the oceans didn’t soak up 30 million tons of the gas every day (Hardt and Safina, 68). One of our favorite past times in America is going to the movies. The United States has the oldest film industry, and the largest in terms of revenue (All Art Schools, 2010). The film industry is big business. Every week new movies come out in the theater or on Digital Video Disc (DVD), and when you talk to anyone about their weekend they usually say, they went to see or watched a movie. As we watch the film we become our own critics, by analyzing and attempting to explain what we’ve seen. Watching a film can bring out an unlimited amount of emotions and an overwhelming sense of reality. A. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Amendments of 1997 (IDEA), is a federal special education law and was signed into law in June 1997. The IDEA pledges that each child with a disability as well as students who need special education services has the right to a free proper public education, with the least restrictive environment. Below are the six components that are included in the IDEA. They include; 1 Free Appropriate Public Education(FAPE): In this component, the IDEA pledges that all students with a disability must be provided at a no cost public education services that is appropriate to his or her special needs within the public school system. 2 Least Restrictive Environment is the second component. My experiences during these high school years in the Philippines inspired me to become an educator in Myanmar. My first step in preparing for my goal to become an effective educator was when I enrolled Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English at University of the Cordilleras in Baguio City, Philippines in 2011. It is also vital to enrich the country’s academic offerings as I believe education is the ultimate to development of a country and the growth of its people mind. This teaching journey have led me to dream a bigger part of change agent, a desire to improve the education system in my country Myanmar, provide individuals free and quality education, inspire students to strive with the right mindset and creativity, because with the right mindset, it’s possible to make all developments from private sectors to public administrations in the country and its citizens’ potential. The more I realized it the more I am encouraged to pursue Master Degree in Education. So that I can work for educational reform, and with ample experience I will be able to work with ministry of education in Myanmar, AND VARIOUS NGOs which focus on the improvement of education system, I hope that students are aware of information regarding their chances of becoming their dream person, by running campaigns to inform students about scholarship programs all around the world, giving them guide how to achieve the scholarship, even work for students to achieve their dreams. Eventually I will like launch my own organization that focus on quality education as a whole particularly training teachers all around the country, who would reach out to their individual places and educate children, who are the hope and backbone of our country’s development.
